Format and Content Guidelines

This website depends on inputs from our members. As such, it’s only as good as the inputs we receive (barring limitations from our Squarespace provider). To make sure that inputs are of consistent quality, we are issuing the following guidelines. As they change, we will invite our members to view this page.

1. Photo updates.

a. Photos should be in .jpg or equivalent format. Most cellphone and other cameras support a jpg format by default, at resolutions that amply support web publishing requirements. For example, the default resolution of iPhone 7 photos is 12megapixels (MP), which is 3024 x 4032 pixels for vertically aligned photos. More recent iPhones support 24 MP, which also works well. We can always scale down an image size to meet any Squarespace limitations that may arise. The higher the resolution, the more flexibility we have in formatting photo albums and other photo objects.

b. Please use a blank or monochrome background for profile photos.

c. Our events photo gallery will be posted soon. Event photographers should write the address below to discuss transmission and storage options.

d. Photos embedded in other documents will not be posted online - they must be supplied as independent files, as stated above.

2. Biography updates.

a. Languages. Biographies are now posted in both English and French. We encourage our instructors to provide their biographies in French, but it's not required.

b. Length. Maximum 200 words for each of the two biography texts. No minimum is defined, but we're looking to provide a roughly equivalent amount of information in each biography.

c. Content.
    1) Biography updates occur rarely. Therefore, please avoid use of words like "recently," which lacks meaning without a date. Also, please avoid content which requires a timeline for context, or add dates as needed.

2) Please spell out all acronyms. With entries now being published in English and French, it is more inclusive not to assume that others are familiar with the names of organizations the author has worked with.

3. Destination address.

Please email all updates to communications@afomaha.org
