About Our Classes

Alliance Française Omaha offers French classes throughout the year in four sessions: fall, winter, spring, and summer. Classes for true beginners to advanced students are taught by our experienced teachers, see Meet our Instructors for more information. We are pleased to offer you a variety of conversation and other classes on specific topics throughout the year. These include five levels of Communications classes, from Communications 101 for beginners to Communications 503 for advanced learners. Each new session builds on lessons learned during the previous session. 

Progressing through Classes 101-503

Students may expect to advance to the next communications class level after completing all three sessions at a given level. A student may also have the option of advancing to the next level if he/she feels ready to do so before completing all three sessions. Students may repeat courses as often as desired. Don’t forget — AFO members receive significant discounts on classes and events! Individual memberships start at just $40 for the year, with further discounts for French teachers and full-time students.

If you have any questions about your level or the most appropriate class for you, please contact the Education Chair at education@afomaha.org. Generally speaking, if the activities noted for a course cover topics with which you have some familiarity, you are ready for the next higher course. If your class is sold out, please email our Education Committee. Please share your name and the class name and we will add you to the class waitlist in the order in which student emails are received. If we have a student cancellation or add another session, you’ll be the first to know!
