Jeff Koterba
Community Outreach Chair
Jeff Koterba is an award-winning cartoonist whose work appears in over 800 newspapers. His original drawings have flown on the space shuttle Discovery and were exhibited in Paris and elsewhere in France. Entertainment Weekly called his memoir, Inklings: “…a powerful and moving portrait of an artist.” A two-time TEDx speaker, he often speaks on how Tourette’s Syndrome is connected to his creative process. Jeff is a two-time finalist for a Heartland Emmy Award. He writes music, sings and plays guitar and mandolin in his swing band, Prairie Cats. He has performed at South by Southwest and the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York. He’s also an avid Francophone: in 2019, Jeff founded Café et Conversation — a weekly practice group that has moderated a number of programs for the AFO. A painter and sculptor, Jeff is an artist in residence at the Pottawattamie, Arts, Cultural & Entertainment (PACE) center. His recent works were inspired by him having been struck by lightning. Jeff Koterba est un caricaturiste primé dont le travail paraît dans plus de 800 journaux. Ses dessins originaux ont volé à bord de la navette spatiale Discovery et ont été exposés à Paris et ailleurs en France. Entertainment Weekly a appelé ses mémoires, Inklings: « … un portrait puissant et émouvant d’un artiste ». Deux fois conférencier TEDx, il parle souvent de la manière dont le syndrome Gilles de la Tourette est lié à son processus créatif. Il a deux fois été nommé finaliste pour le Heartland Emmy Award. Jeff compose de la musique, chante et joue de la guitare et de la mandoline dans son groupe swing, Prairie Cats. Il a interprété ses propres chansons sur scène à New York à South by Southwest et au WTC. Il est aussi un ardent promoteur de la langue française: en 2019, il a fondé le groupe Café et Conversation, dont les pratiques francophones hebdomadaires ont animé plusieurs programmes pour l'AFO. Peintre et sculpteur, Jeff est artiste en résidence au PACE. Ses œuvres récentes ont été inspirées du faite qu'il a été frappé par la foudre.
