Alliance Française Omaha has partnered with independent group Café et Conversation Midwest to bring Omaha’s francophones a French conversation event every week of the year!
C&C is a casual weekly meetup to practice/speak French. Whether you are a beginner, native speaker, or somewhere in between, C&C is the group for you! C&C meets at various locations in the Omaha area. Events are free to attend and all are welcome.
AFO will share C&C’s events on our website event calendar, but we also encourage you to join the C&C community via their email list and private Facebook group below.
OÙ ET QUAND?
Have you been longing to stroll through the streets of Paris while overhearing and speaking French? But it's just not in the cards at the moment to travel? Let's bring a little of that Parisian street life to YOU!
We have three locations on the schedule as follows:
2pm-2:40pm
Godega Market
423 S. 11th St.
Excellent coffee, snacks, some alcohol
Brand-new outdoor terrace
2:45pm-3:25pm
Jackson Street Booksellers
1119 Jackson St.
Large selection of French-language books
3:30pm-4pm
Centi
Crêperie and Gelateria
Brand-new outdoor terrace
(Pro tip: the chocolate in the gelato comes from Paris)
4pm—?
La Buvette? We'll play this by ear. If there's room and some of us want to gather there, great!
If you're running behind for the first stop, join us at the second. Or if you don't want to hang out too long at the second stop come find us at the third.
Keep in mind we will not be able to reserve any tables. But that's sort of the point. This is meant to be an organic and interactive adventure. Pair up, mingle, find a seat, stroll...all while doing your best to stay in French.
And as always, ALL levels of French welcome—from beginners to advanced and native speakers.
Let's do a little French takeover of the Old Market!
*Trivia: did you know that the Old Market as we know it today is thanks in large part to a Parisian lawyer? Jeff Koterba can share that with you during our adventure.
When you arrive, look for C&C founder Jeff Koterba. Let us know that you’re coming by RSVPing below. Everyone is welcome, no matter if you are a beginner, a native French speaker, or somewhere in between. Hope to see you there!
